4 Reasons God’s Ways Are Past Finding Out

“God is able to do more than man can understand.”

– Thomas a Kempis

His Ways Are Not Our Ways

When the Apostle Paul considered His salvation and the ways of God, all he could do was stand in awe of God and say, “The depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways” (Romans 11:33). We cannot fully know God because He is infinite and we are finite, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive to know Him and know Him more fully, even though His ways are beyond our reach. He does let us search out some of the unfathomable truths.

He Is Infinite

As I said in the above paragraph, God’s ways are beyond human searching capabilities because He is an infinite God. God is omniscient and knows all there is to know. Did it ever occur to you that nothing’s ever occurred to God? Has it dawned on you that nothing’s ever dawned on God? God is never surprised because He can see around the corners of time. In fact, He’s already been there and back.

Are You Persuaded?

The Apostle Paul was confident about the day of Jesus’ return and wrote, “I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me” (2 Timothy 1:12). Are you as persuaded as Paul was in God completing in you what He has started and that He will guard it “until the day” of Jesus’ return? Paul wrote that God “will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:8).

His Thoughts Versus Our Thoughts

We have the mind of Christ if we’ve trusted in Him and we’re new creations in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). But even with the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), His thoughts are far beyond our thoughts. The psalmist admitted, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it” (Psalm 139:6). We can’t understand everything God is doing, as Solomon wrote that “he has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Conclusion

The truth is, God is able to do more than man can understand. I’m okay with that because His ways are not our ways; He is infinite and we are finite; He will guard what’s been entrusted to us; and His thoughts are so much higher than our thoughts that we should never question Him. What business does a clay pot have asking the Potter why He has made him so?
