When we are Helpless
When Israel’s back was up against the wall, a wall of water that is, they had the Egyptian army on one side and the Red Sea on the other, so what were they to do? That’s when “Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent” (Ex 14:13-14). When you are between a rock and a hard place, cry out to God and “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
When we are Desperate
When the situation seems impossible for you to get out of, that’s when the Lord can be glorified in prayer. When we ask in Jesus’ name and receive an answer to our prayer, Jesus Christ is glorified, so think of these desperate situations as an opportunity to glorify God as even the Lord said, “the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen” (Ex 14:18). Of course, God was glorified and the Egyptian army was drowned in the Red Sea.
When All Else Fails
Since Moses and Israel couldn’t escape from between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army, they had no choice but to cry out to God, so what did God do? He did the impossible of course, and so “Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left” (Ex 14:21-22), and “all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen” (Ex 14:23) drowned in the sea (Ex 14:28).
Conclusion
Yes, it is true that “Prayer can do anything that God can do,” and especially when we can’t do anything ourselves. When we are helpless and in a desperate state, and all else fails, cry out to the Lord and pray to Him to do what you cannot do, for nothing is impossible with God (Matt 19:26).
