Spiritual Warfare
If you’ve ever read Ephesians chapter 6, then you know we’re in a spiritual war against forces that are invisible and against an enemy we cannot see but know exists. If we’re not praying to God for the armor to resist the enemy, we’re ignoring the fact that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Eph 6:12).
Unleashing the Gospel
If you want to anger the Devil, do what God says. Since Satan would love to have everyone go to hell, he’s disturbed when you share the gospel so that others might be saved. He doesn’t want this power unleashed because he can’t resist it, as the Apostle Paul says, “it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Rom 1:16), and “the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1st Cor 1:18).
Reading His Future
When Satan reminds you of your past, just remind him of his future, like where the Apostle John wrote, “the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Rev 20:10). Satan can’t get out of this one. This bedrock truth must really anger him, so when you pray, remind the enemy that his fate is sealed and your eternity is secure.
Conclusion
I believe we don’t have to defend the gospel, but only unleash it as the power to save, but that’s a sure way to make the Devil angry, but that’s great isn’t it? If we realize we’re in a spiritual war, we’ll be prepared; if we unleash the power of the gospel, it will do its work; and if we remind the Devil of his future, maybe he’ll stop reminding us of our past.
