3 Reasons God Never Disappoints

“God never disappoints anyone who places his trust in Him.”

– Basilea Schlink

The Old Testament

In the Old Testament we have the promise of God where Isaiah writes, “those who wait for me shall not be put to shame” (Isaiah 49:23), and even the psalmist testified that “none who wait for you shall be put to shame” (Psalm 25:2) and so we too can “speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame” (Psalm 119:46). We might not meet kings, but we do know our neighbor.

The New Testament

Of course the New Testament tells us that God will never disappoint anyone who puts their trust in Him, specifically, trust in Jesus Christ. To make sure the church knows this the Apostle Paul quoted from the Old Testament and wrote, “For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame” (Rom 10:11). Of course, the “Scripture” Paul speaks about is clearly the Old Testament, but since God doesn’t change, this promise is still here for us today.

The Forever Promise

Someday, we will finally receive the full inheritance that God has promised long ago and that is through the blood of Jesus Christ. God has “made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” (Rev 1:6), and elsewhere the Apostle John writes, “you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth” (Rev 5:10), and for all who have trusted in Christ, it says, “Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years” (Rev 20:6).

Conclusion

God will never disappoint us, even when we disappoint Him. That’s because our trust is in Him and not in ourselves, and we find that in the Old Testament, the New Testament, and that will be true throughout all eternity.
