– Psalm 133:3
Eternal Life
The Lord does bestow or grant blessings in this life but also in the life to come. Jesus came so that we might have life, and not just more abundantly, but have eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16), so we can’t hold this precious pearl of great price and keep it to ourselves. We should feel compelled to share this best of news with the lost. This blessing of eternal life is certainly “forevermore.”
A Spirit of Unity
It is so true that “The LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore” (Psalm 113:3), but it is also very pleasing to God when we dwell together in unity as it says, “how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity” (Psalm 133:1). Since the church is described as the Body of Christ, there must be unity in the way the body moves and works for Christ. That is very pleasing to God because “a house divided against itself cannot stand” (Mark 3:25).
Blessed Forever
Everything in the universe, including all the money, gold, silver, diamonds, or anything else of value cannot compare with eternal life. Jesus asked, “what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul” (Matt 16:26)? No amount of wealth, possessions or power can ever compare to the infinite worth of having eternal life. That is the greatest blessing of all.
Conclusion
Psalm 133 is one of the shortest chapters in the Bible (3 verses), but it has some of the most potent reminders there are, like reminding us of the greatest gift and that is eternal life, and how pleasing it is to God when we dwell together in unity, but also not overlooking the fact that nothing compares with the infinite worth of your soul and a soul that is redeemed by God through Jesus Christ.
