Eternal Life
Let’s start out with the most obvious gift from God and it’s the greatest of them all. If not for Jesus’ paying for our sins by His death on the cross, we’d still be in our sins right now. Any gifts we had we couldn’t enjoy, knowing we’re still facing the judgment of God someday. Thankfully, we know that it is only “by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God” (Eph 2:8). That’s more than just big…it’s indescribably awesome.
Spiritual Gifts
You probably know some of the gifts of the Spirit, and they are vital for the proper functioning of the Body of Christ, the church, so all spiritual gifts are from God Himself. God calls us to do things for Christ (Matt 25:34-40), but God also equips us to do what He has called us to do since “To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good” (1st Cor 12:11), and not for personal good, and “God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose” (1st Cor 12:18), and not we who arrange these gifts for the church. These gifts have huge impacts on the church.
Blessings
We are given many blessings by God but they are not given for us to hold onto but to release and be used to bless others. Our time, talent, and treasures are never for self but for the good of others. To hold onto what God has given us is to covet what God has blessed us with and to not share it with others creates a risk for God taking these blessings away. This is what the early church did (Acts 2:42-46) and as a result, God gave growth to the church (Acts 2:47).
Healings
There are some people who I know who have had significant healings from life-threatening diseases or illnesses, including cancer. They prayed for God to heal them and He did. This doesn’t mean God will heal every single disease or cure every cancer, but God can do what God wants to do since He is God. If He wants to display His power and heal someone, He is glorified, so there are big gifts that God has given us and these show the bigness of God, although He is so much bigger than we can even imagine.
Conclusion
Woodrow Kroll is right that big gifts are a sign of a big God and the greatest gift is that of eternal life, but also the spiritual gifts He sends, and the many blessings He gives, but even the healings that God grants. He is so much bigger than we even realize, but what else should we expect from God, for He is mighty and omnipotent (all-powerful), so we should be praising Him and thanking Him every single day of our life.
