Saved to Sin No More
When we finally make it into the kingdom, we will be saved to sin no more. In other words, our sin nature will have been changed and we will have new bodies and a soul that doesn’t fall into sin anymore. As far as I’m concerned, I can hardly wait for that day. I am so sick and tired of sin that I long for the day when sin will be history…ancient history. What about you? Doesn’t that sound awesome?
No More Death
The thing about our bodies today is that they are speeding toward the day of our death, but the good news of the gospel is that death will finally be done with…forever! The Apostle John wrote that the “former things have passed away” (Rev 21:4b), and that includes death. Imagine that; the death of death because in the kingdom, death will be no more. Death itself was swallowed up in victory by Jesus Christ Himself because the grave couldn’t hold Him.
New Bodies
Every day I get older the more I yearn for a new body. This body of mine is quickly wearing out now that I’m approaching the mid-60’s, but the Bible gives us hope as the Apostle John wrote, “we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is” (1st John 3:2). Since we will be like Him, although not nearly as glorious as He is, we can finally “see him as he is.” Today, in this body, no one can look at God and live (Gen 32:22-30). That will change in the kingdom.
Corruption puts on Incorruption
If you read 1st Corinthians 15, you can see how corruption will be replaced in us by incorruption. The Apostle Paul tells us, “So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power” (1st Cor 15:22-23). I can attest to the “weakness” part, so I can’t wait for the time when we are “raised in power.” That time is coming for all who have repented and trusted in Christ.
Conclusion
The creation is not the only thing that’s groaning (Rom 8:19). My own body is, but the day is coming when our sinning will be no more, and we will not ever have the threat of death hanging over us again because our bodies will be immortal and capable of dying anymore, just as we’ve read; we’ll be raised “in power” and will be “imperishable.”
