No Fear of Death
Death is certainly not the end for believers but actually the beginning of their stay in their eternal home in the kingdom, and to make sure we understand that, Jesus said, “do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matt 10:28). If a person has repented and trusted in Christ, there is no more reason to fear, but if they haven’t, they have every reason to (Rev 20:12-15; 21:8).
No Fear of Man
The psalmist tells us that if “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me” (Psalm 118:6)? If God is with you, who could ever be against you (Rom 8:31), so if they kill your body, they can’t kill your soul. To be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord (2nd Cor 5:8), so we have no reason to fear any man or any woman.
No Fear of Circumstances
For the believer in Christ, there is no fear of man or death, but also there is no fear of any circumstance that can separate us from God. The Apostle Paul writes, “neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 8:38-39). I would say that about covers it!
Meet Fear with Faith
When fear knocks on the door, tell “Faith” to answer it, because fear cannot stand up to faith because our faith is as strong as the Object of our faith, and that is Jesus Christ. It is not our faith but the faith that moved us to repentance and trust in Christ. Fear can show up at any time in our lives, but the next time fear shows up, have faith answer the door, and he’ll run for his life.
Conclusion
The author of Hebrews wrote, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Heb 10:31), but if you have trusted in Christ, your fears are unfounded, because we have no reason to fear death, any man, or any circumstances, because our faith is stronger than our fears…at least it should be.
