A Free Gift – Ephesians 2

If we had to pay for our salvation, we couldn’t afford it, for the price was so high that Jesus, the sinless Lamb of God, died to atone for our sins, and if we paid for it, it wouldn’t be grace any longer, because it is “by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

In Christ Alone – Acts 4

The world believes their good works can earn their way into heaven. Others believe there are many paths to God, but the Bible is crystal clear about salvation, and the truth is, “there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). When Paul and Silas were miraculously freed from prison, the jail asked a very good question: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household” (Acts 30:31-32). We can’t do anything to save ourselves…not works or helping the poor…but only if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ can we be saved. What works can you do to be saved? Jesus said, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent” (John 6:29).

Knowing Jesus – Galatians 5

Many people who profess faith in Christ say they know the Lord, but their fruits are that of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21). Jesus Himself said, ”Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 7:21), so “many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord” (Matthew 7:22), but these same “many” will hear Jesus say, “I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness” (Matthew 7:23). It’s not whether we know Jesus; it’s whether He knows you. Jesus knows His own sheep and they know Him (John 10:4-5, 14).

The Bible wants us to make our election and calling sure (1 Peter 1:10). In fact, that’s an imperative command from the Word of God. We all should examine ourselves to see if we’re truly in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). If you haven’t done that, today could be your day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2), but the time of salvation is over after death. That’s when the judgment comes (Heb 9:27).
