World’s Best 13 Bible Verses For Single People
It’s not easy being single these days, so to encourage the single people we know, here are the world’s best 13 Bible verses for single people.
5 Stories From The Bible To Read For Single People
Here are 5 stories from the Bible you can read if you’re single.
Just as I Am
The Apostle Paul may have been married at one time; perhaps his wife died or left him, but Paul says to the church at Corinth, “To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single as I am” (1 Corinthians 7:8). This is not a command from God but a suggestion from Paul since the single person can devote more time to the work of God than can a married person who has a spouse and children to support and spend time with.
Deserted
Most single people may not be happy that they’re single, but they do make the most of it. Some take it harder than others, but that’s a natural thing that God has instilled into our DNA. We are made for relationship. God’s Word tells us that “the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him” (Genesis 2:18). To find that helper is to be blessed beyond measure, so pray for those who are single. They often face life’s obstacles alone with no one to share with.
Betrothed to Christ
The church is called the Body of Christ or the Bride of Christ, so even those who are single in this life are betrothed to Christ the Bridegroom. God speaks through Hosea the Prophet and says, “And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the Lord” (Hosea 2:19-20). Even if you never receive that unconditional love of another man or woman, God’s love is steadfast and forever faithful.
Unequally Yoked
As tempting as it is for single person to marry a non-Christian, we are told, “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness” (2 Corinthians 6:14). A mixed marriage of a believer and unbeliever will wreak havoc in a home, especially when it comes to raising children, what to watch on TV, what to do in their spare time, and other every day activities.
Delight in the Lord
God is pleased to give us the desires of our heart when we are delighted in Him, meaning we desire to do what pleases God, so if you are looking and praying for a spouse, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4). That desire might be the strength to live a single life; that desire might be to have you meet a godly person that seems compatible. Whatever you desire in your heart of hearts, delight yourself in the Lord and see what happens.
