Top 13 Bible Verses About Purpose
We were created for a very specific purpose and these top 13 Bible verses about purpose will show that to be true.
5 Stories From The Bible About Purpose
Here are 5 stories from the Bible that speak about purpose.
His Purpose
Many have taken great comfort in Paul’s words, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Generally, we like this verse when things are not going well, but it’s an iron-clad promise; that whatever happens, must first pass through the nail scarred hands of Jesus. Things may not look good, but they will work out for our good.
His Purpose to Reveal
God displayed His mighty deeds, not only to free Israel from their slavery, but He showed Pharaoh and the world, that there is only One, True God. God declared that is was for “this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth” (Exodus 9:16). That’s what we need to do, so that His “name may be proclaimed in all the earth,” or at least with our next door neighbors.
Christ’s Purpose
Jesus came to be born of human flesh and live a sinless life. Then He would give His life as a ransom for the many who would trust in Him (Mark 10:45). Jesus told Pontius Pilate, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” The Holy Spirit reveals Who the Truth is, and that Truth sets us free (John 14:6).
Our Destiny
Ephesians 1 is among the most powerful chapters in the Bible. It ranks right up there with Romans 8, but here, the Apostle Paul writes, “he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will” (Ephesians 1:5). It’s sometimes called election, as if there was a vote, but God was the only One Who voted; and it was 1 to 0…we win by a landslide! He chose us. How amazing! Why? Don’t ask me.
His Purpose in Death
When Jesus hung dying on the cross, many thought it was be the last of His group, but that was decidedly wrong. Jesus took the curse of the Law upon Himself so that it would not abide on us. The Apostle Paul said, “I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose” (Galatians 2:21). In other words, if striving to the keep the law could save us (which is impossible), “Why the cross?”
