5 Stories From The Bible About Amazing Grace
Here are 5 stories from the Bible about God’s amazing grace.
A Gift of God
I love presents because they’re gifts and usually I didn’t earn them, but so is grace; it is God’s unmerited pardon of us on behalf of Jesus Christ, so it is “by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” Ephesians 2:8-9). Believe me, if we could boast, we most certainly would, but can we really take credit for our natural birth and say those birthday presents rightfully belong to us because of what we did to bring about our own birth? No, it’s all a gift and grace cannot be earned. Otherwise, it’s not really grace.
Eternal Life
We cannot neglect what this cost the Father because He knew what was coming for Jesus Christ. He too suffered to see Jesus agonize through Calvary, but it displays God’s love in a vividly tangible way for the whole world to see. God’s love is in full view to the world because “God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). It is freely received, but not without cost to God the Father, God the Son, and I am sure, God the Holy Spirit.
Saving Sinners
I am glad God didn’t wait for me to clean myself up, or I’d have never come to Christ, but think about this; how many of yours and my sins were ahead of us when Jesus died on the cross? All of them! “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). He didn’t wait for us to stop sinning but “while still sinners!” Otherwise, we’d never been saved! That’s amazing grace.
Ransoming Sinners
In the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, He came to save that which was lost, and today is still the age of grace. Jesus said that “even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). It doesn’t say He same to ransom the many good, or the many worthy, but the many who are in fact, sinners.
By His Stripes
Isaiah the Prophet looked ahead and saw the redemptive work of Christ, writing that “he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). The Prophet Isaiah foresaw the enormous cost that the Messiah would pay in order to bring peace and healing to those who would believe.
Grace is more than amazing…it is indescribable. Who would think that God would save wicked sinners who were enemies of God (Romans 5:6-10), but in fact He has. If you’ve trusted in Him, you’ve been justified by God through Jesus Christ. That is truly amazing grace.
