4 Reasons to Trust That God Has Better Plans
It is very easy to think that we’re living a bad movie. There are many times in the life of any person that nothing seems to go right. Many of these situations are, sadly, consequences of our decisions. As the apostle Paul writes, we reap what we sow. Paul was writing specifically about our character and the Holy Spirit. We reap the consequences of whether we sow in accordance with the Spirit or when we choose another way. However, there are many other situations where we feel that things just happen out of nowhere and there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for the things happening in our lives. When you get this feeling, it is a great opportunity to get down on your knees, close your eyes, and trust God more. Here are four reasons why you need to trust that God has better plans for you.
God wants the best for you
As Jeremiah writes, God’s plan is to prosper us and never harm us. Since we know, according to Isaiah that God’s words have effect, we know that God’s promises are real and have real force. You only need to trust the promise in Jeremiah to guide you through that rough patch you’re going through.
Trust in the Lord and lean not in your understanding
When you trust God more, you are exercising your faith. What’s the point of thinking and saying you have faith when you don’t exercise it? What better opportunity to let God show his strength and mercy in your life, when nothing seems to be going right.
God’s yoke is light
Jesus himself said that his yoke and his burden are light. Claim this promise. The real reason, of course, why Jesus’ yoke and burden for us is light is because we aren’t bearing the whole weight. He bears it for us. Thanks to the indwelling Holy Spirit, we are able to live holy lives if we abide in Jesus. The key is to constantly give ourselves permission to love God more fully each and every day. This is the love that makes all burdens, challenges, and problems light.
You are gaining something more important than the world
As Jesus says, what is the point of gaining the world when you lose your soul? By focusing on what’s important (our relationship with Jesus) we can weather anything. It is our relationship with him that matters more than any riches, comfort, or attractions the world can ever offer. Focus on what’s important and you’ll make it through whatever trials and challenges you’re going through.
