– Mother Teresa
God Supplies You with All Your Needs and More
One of the most powerful stories in the Bible that illustrates this quote from Mother Teresa is the story of Job.
Job was a very wealthy man with a big family, and due to the devil’s working, all of that was taken away from him. His children died, he lost all his money, and he was suffering from a dreadful disease. Yet through all this, he kept hanging on to God. He never gave in to his wife’s challenge, which is to curse God and die.
It’s a very interesting and very common human reaction that when bad things happen, we always call them acts of God. Talk about a slap in the face of the Being that created us. Talk about a slap in the face of the Being that gave up everything He had just so that we can be reconciled with Him.
The reality is that when you lose everything and there are many times in life when we are faced with challenges where we have to start all over again, as long as you have God in your heart, you have more than enough to rebuild.
Disasters Are a Fact of Life
The reality is that we live in a fallen world, due to sin. God didn’t intend for people to die; God didn’t intend for disease to appear; God didn’t design cancer. In fact, when God created the world, he said it was good. When he created the creatures, He said it was good. Meaning, everything was perfect.
It was sin that destroyed everything. It was sin that cursed the world. As part of this curse, disasters come into play. We’re not just talking about natural disasters like storms and floods and earthquakes; we’re also talking about man-made disasters: war, adultery, distrust, betrayal. They are facts of life. However, this is a life that God did not choose for us. I just want to make that clear.
When You Have God in Your Heart, You Have More Than What You Need
The good news is that God is all you need. When you place your trust in Him, He changes you. He gives you the power to be able to do what you need to do, to not just live another day, but to make your dreams come true.
Any dream that you have can be turned into a reality if you have faith in your dreams, and it aligns with God’s dreams for you. Having a relationship with God gives you the strength of faith to make things happen. It’s one thing to pray, but you have to of course move your feet and hands while you’re praying. In other words, action plus prayer means success.
God Gives the Vision and the Power for Something Greater
God wants the best for you and has better plans for you. Through constant prayer and always abiding in His word, you can get the vision that God wants for your life. In many cases, people develop these visions that they came up with on their own. And when things don’t pan out, they’re looking for somebody to blame.
God is not the person to blame, because He has His vision for your life. If you look for that vision and abide it in His will, you can identify that vision and claim the power that He gives you to make it happen. God freely gives to those who do His will.
