Christ Is Bigger Than Your Problems
Here’s a little exercise. Take your hand and put is close to your face. Now look at a big object in front of you, and figure out which looks bigger? Your hand, or the big object in front of you? Maybe you’re looking at a car, or maybe you’re looking at a building. Regardless of what you’re looking at, it will always be your hand that looks bigger, because your hand is closer to your face. This is the power of perspective. You have to understand this basic lesson of perspective when dealing with your problems.
Christ is the biggest force in the universe. He spoke the universe into being. Think about it: he spoke. He didn’t cobble it together, He didn’t use a machine; He spoke it. That’s how amazing and powerful God is.
Unfortunately, when we dwell on our problems, our problems look so big that we lose all sense of perspective. The reality is that Christ is always bigger than our problems.
When We Lose Sight of Jesus, Our Problems Look Humongous
The main reason why many Christians are struggling is that they lost focus on Jesus. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus and everything falls into perspective. The bills come in due, any illnesses, unemployment, lack of money, all these problems fall into place. In other words, they fall into perspective.
Unfortunately, when you focus on those things instead of Jesus, they become bigger. They’re like that hand in front of your eye. Even if you’re looking at a huge truck in front of you, compared to that hand in front of your face, your hand will always look bigger.
The reality is that your money, relationship, medical, and other problems are microscopic compared to Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, when we lose track and stop looking at Jesus, and start dwelling on our problems, our problems look bigger. And unfortunately, since we are visual creatures, we get emotionally overwhelmed. We begin to worry. We begin to get stressed out. We let the cares of the world choke our faith.
Jesus Gives Us the Strength to Deal with Our Problems
By focusing squarely on Jesus Christ and realizing how big He is, He gives us the strength to deal with our problems. Most importantly, He gives us perspective. He gives us the proper timing; He gives us the proper way of looking at things so we can take care of business the way it’s supposed to be taken care of. It’s too easy to panic when we just focus on our problems and start running around like chickens with our heads cut off.
If you call yourself a Christian, and you spend a lot of your time worrying, you are sinning. Let me repeat that again. If you call yourself a Christian, and you spend a lot of your time worrying, you are sinning, because that is not the Christian way.
The Christian way is to focus on Jesus, and He gives you the power and the blessings and miracles, and everything else falls into perspective. When you worry, you place more power and faith in your own abilities, or in somebody else’s abilities, instead of where it needs to go, which is your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Even if Jesus doesn’t remove your problems, He definitely changes how you look at your problems. In many cases, if not most cases, this is the bigger and better blessing. This is why it’s extremely important that we focus on the reality behind the quote by Spurgeon: “I have a great need for Christ; I have a great Christ for my need.”
