5 Reasons Jesus Came Into The World

“God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

– John 3:17

To Live a Sinless Life

Jesus came as the Word of God and became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14) and from even a youth, no one could ever accuse Him of sin; ever! Why did Jesus come into the world? It was “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2nd Cor 5:21). Jesus never sinned (Heb 4:15) and so let us focus on this; “knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot” (1st Pet 1:18). He is perfect; we are perfectly condemned, so it requires a perfect, spotless, and sinless sacrifice to redeem us. With Jesus, done!

To Die for the Ungodly

Talk about perfect! God’s timing was exact, just as Paul wrote that “while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly” (Rom 5:6) and the amazing thing is “one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom 5:7-8) and even more, “while we were enemies” (Rom 5:10) of God.

A Sympathetic High Priest

Jesus Christ makes the Perfect High Priest of course because as He lived in the flesh for over thirty years, He knew hunger, and cold, and thirst, heartache, sorrow, and pain, which is captured by the author of Hebrews, where he wrote, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Heb 4:15).

To Save the World

Jesus came into the world to save the world and not condemn it. At His next appearance He will judge the world! The Apostle John records Jesus words; “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him” (John 3:17) and “Whoever believes in him is not condemned” but “whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God” (John 3:18). Jesus Himself said “the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45) and by the way, He says “No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father” (John 10:18) so that’s part of the reason that He came into the world.

The Founder of Our Salvation

I am not a founder of much of anything but Jesus is much more than the founder of our salvation; He is the way of salvation. Hebrews 2:10 says that “it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.” By being the Trailblazer of the road to salvation, being paved with His own precious blood, and coming through repentance and faith, He “who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers” (Heb 2:11).

Conclusion

I hope I have shown you more reasons for Jesus coming into the world. What would we do without Him!? Don’t ask. This I know; Jesus came into the world to live a sinless, perfect life; Jesus came into the world to die for the ungodly (like me); Jesus came into the world as the perfect High Priest, knowing what we feel; Jesus came into the world to save the world and not to condemn it; and Jesus came into the world to open the highway to heaven. The way to the Father is only through Jesus Christ (John 6:44) for there’s “no other name given to us by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
