Seeing Jesus
When people look at us, do they see the Jesus of the Bible? What I mean is that lost people might have a different Jesus than the one found in the Bible. I didn’t realize what Jesus was really like until started reading the Bible. The Gospel of John gives me the best picture of Jesus but the point is, do we know enough about Jesus and the words that He spoke that we can begin to live like Him and in how we treat others?
Hearing Jesus
When we speak with words of love, patience, and compassion, we can let others hear how Jesus was. When our words reflect the words of Jesus, then they might get their first glimpse of Who Jesus really is. They might never open a Bible but you can open up a conversation with them by asking them “What do you know about Jesus?” Anything we can say should try to point them to Christ.
Experiencing Jesus
By doing for others, even doing good to those who hate you, you are more like the children of God (Luke 6:27). If the lost see enough good in the children of God, they might want to know their Father. Jesus tells us “love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful” (Luke 6:35-36). See if that doesn’t reveal the Bible to others just by sight.
Conclusion
When we are living more like Christ, Christ will be more visible in us. That’s easy to say but really hard to do, but think of others and try to let Jesus be seen in you; then let them hear Jesus words in your words; and finally, let them experience the tender, merciful God by doing good to those who hate us. That’s a powerful magnet to the Son of God, and hopefully, some find eternal life through Christ.
