5 Stories From The Bible About Accomplishment
Here are 5 stories from the Bible that relate to accomplishment.
All Things
Jesus once told the disciples that without Him they can do nothing (John 15:5), and nothing is not a little something, but in Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul knew, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). He didn’t strengthen himself but it was the Lord Who enabled him to “do all things,” including bearing his suffering during his mission trips.
No Things
Once a person has trusted in Christ, there is no more hostility between us and God because Jesus’ life and death reconciled us back to God, so as the Apostle said, so we can say, “I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:39-39).
Overcoming
When the Apostle John wrote that “everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith” (1 John 5:4). That doesn’t mean they won’t sin anymore. We all still sin, never being sinless this side of the kingdom (1 John 1:8, 10), but it does mean that we are seen as having Jesus’ own righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). We can overcome the world because He has already overcome it for us.
His Word
When we ask someone to do something for us, it may or may not get done. Maybe something comes up that keeps a person from keeping their word, but God’s Word cannot be stopped by anyone or anything. God says that “my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:11).
It is Finished
Talk about the greatest accomplishments in human history. First of all, Jesus was born of a virgin; He lives a sinless life; He suffered, was crucified, and died; and on the third day, rose again, but what Jesus accomplished on that day was our salvation. John wrote that “When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit” (John 19:30). The Greek wording of “It is finished” is better rendered, “Paid in full,” since He paid it all.
We can accomplish great things if we’re in the will of God, for nothing is impossible with God; with us, we need help. When we do accomplish something, we should rightfully give God the glory, for we have nothing at all that we didn’t receive from God (1 Corinthians 4:7), so to Him be all the glory for all of our accomplishments and not one bit to us…not one bit at all (Psalm 115:1).
