5 Stories From The Bible About Being Enough

Here are 5 stories from the Bible about being enough.

Just Enough

If God is your God, then your God will provide what you need, and sometimes, just when you need it.  He may be trying to increase your faith, but we have God’s promise that “my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:13), however, if you’ve never trusted in Christ, He is not your God.  He is your God only if you’ve trusted in His Son…if so, then He tells you He “will supply every need of yours.”  He’s got your back!

The Father Provides

Jesus, likely pointing to heaven and the birds of the air, says, “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they” (Matthew 6:26).  You know what?  I’ve never seen a sparrow trying to build a bigger barn in order to store more seed, but that’s what we do.  We must trust God to take care of us as He does His own creatures.

Jesus’ Peace

Jesus wanted to reassure His disciples since He was about to die on the cross and return to the Father.  He knew they were deeply troubled.  He wanted them to know that He was not abandoning them, so He told them, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27). They might not have had peace at the moment, but He told them He was coming again…and that should’ve been enough for them…and it should be enough for us too.

Feeding Thousands

Jesus may have been testing the disciples to see what they would do when faced with thousands of hungry followers (Mark 6:37).  They saw all that they had and how many mouths there were to feed, but Jesus knew what He was going to do all the time, and it was another lesson on faith or trust, because afterwards, “they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish” (Mark 6:42-43).  There was not just enough…there was more than enough.

Faithful in Little

Somehow, we get the idea that taking home a pen, paper, or even some paperclips from work is okay since they’re of little value, but Jesus tells us, “If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches” (Luke 16:11)?  God is seeing if we are being faithful today in what little we have before He can entrust us with more in the kingdom.

If we have little, we still have more than we need in Jesus Christ.  Some people have lost everything for their faith, but then they discovered that they actually have everything…everything one could possibly want in Jesus Christ.
