3 Reasons We Have Purpose In Life

“God’s purpose gives life meaning.”

Created for His Glory

The psalmist writes that “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” (Psalm 19:1) so since the creation is intended to glorify God, and we are part of His creation, then we should seek to glorify God, but how do you do that? The Apostle Paul writes that “you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (1st Cor 6:20). That is our purpose. We should glorify God in our lives and that means that we must avoid sexual immorality of any kind.

Created for His Witnesses

Jesus gave the disciples and us our marching orders as in imperative command and it’s found in the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20 where Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” That is part of God’s purpose for us that He might use us as a means to save some. There is no Plan B.

Created for Eternity

We may not realize it but God has plans for us as kings and priests in His kingdom. Don’t take my word for it but believe what God said in His written Word as in Revelation 1:5-6 where the Apostle John writes of the saints, “To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Our purpose will never end because eternal life doesn’t end.

Conclusion

Indeed, God’s purposed do give our lives meaning as we were created for His glory, we were created to be His witnesses, and we were created for eternity (Eph 1) and that means we have great purposes for which God saved us.
