– Mother Teresa
Running on Empty
Mother Teresa had a gift of taking nothing and making it something, and it was always to help others and never to help herself. This godly woman was one of the most giving persons in human history, and we may not be able to do what she did because she did so much with so little, but even if we’re running on empty, God will provide what we need, but usually more than we need to see if we’ll give, even when running on empty.
Refilling what’s Empty
Only open hands can receive from God because clinched fists leave no room to fill, however if we’re constantly giving away by opening out hands, God can more easily put back what we’ve given away, and often its more than we’ve given because our good God loves to bless those who bless others. That’s the idea. Pay it forward. When we give to others, we set in motion the works that God has ordained from before time began (Eph 2:10), and like ripples in a pond, they keep reaching ever outward, but interestingly, these same ripples come back to us.
More than Enough
You have probably heard that you cannot out-give God, and that’s true, because He holds the deed to the universe and He can move around resources wherever they’re needed. If we’re using what we have, God will surely move on our behalf to give us more, so we can give yet more to others. God works with human agents to do what He wills, which means He will use us as a means or a channel to bless others, but if that channel is closed, nothing much can come in.
Conclusion
Let Mother Teresa’s wisdom soak in, where she said “When you have nothing left but God, you have more than enough to start over again,” because it shows you trust Him enough to refill what you’ve given away, and when you are emptying your hands, God can fill them up, and that’s usually more than we’ll ever need. God gives us more than we need to see if we give where there is need.
