– Jeremiah 29:11
Plans to Prosper You
Jeremiah 29:11 is actually written to the Jews in Jerusalem and not to Christians but we can see how these same promises of God apply to us today. For one thing, God wants us to prosper in all things as the Apostle John wrote, “I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul” (3rd John 1:2) so Jeremiah and John are not talking about a financial prosperity but the prosperity of the soul.
Plans to Keep you from Harm
God has plans to keep us from harm and the greatest harm, death itself and even worse, eternal death, were removed from our future by Christ some two thousand years ago. He kept us out of harm’s way but took upon Himself great harm at the cross (Isaiah 53). The plan now is to bring us safely into His kingdom where there will be no more harm of anything or anyone, ever again.
Plans to Give you Hope
God planned for Israel to be restored someday in the kingdom and the same hope God offered Israel, He offers to all who have been brought to repentance and faith in Christ. He is the God of Hope for the hopeless of God. Solomon wrote that “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life” (Prov 13:12).
Plans for an Amazing Future
When God planned from ages ago to save us, He planned a glorious future that we can only see a hint of in the Book of Revelation. God’s plans for us in eternity are just too amazing to eve describe but it does include God being with us (Rev 21:3) but He will also “wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” (Rev 21:4).
Conclusion
Don’t think that your life doesn’t matter. God would never have saved you if He did not have plans for you. Even though we may not see what those plans are for us today, we can trust the God Who holds the future in His hands and don’t worry, He knows where we’re going, even if we don’t.
