Top 10 Bible Verses About Jerusalem
Jerusalem is sometimes called the City of David, but Jerusalem is special to God and to the Jews, so here are the top 10 Bible verses about Jerusalem found in Scripture.
5 Stories From The Bible About Jerusalem
Here are 5 stories from the Bible About Jerusalem.
New Jerusalem
The Apostle John was able to see something that I would have loved to see, and that was the New Jerusalem as it descended out of heaven and came down to the earth. John wrote, “And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband” (Revelation 21:1). The old Jerusalem will be done away with so that a new one can take her place…and it will simply be out of this world!
The Lord in Jerusalem
In time, the New Jerusalem will descend out of heaven and Christ the King will reign forever and ever, so it will be “At that time Jerusalem shall be called the throne of the Lord, and all nations shall gather to it, to the presence of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they shall no more stubbornly follow their own evil heart” (Jeremiah 3:17). Jesus Himself will be the light, so there’ll be no need for the sun and the moon because of the splendid glory of the Son of God.
Peace for Jerusalem
The Bible commands us to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you” (Psalm 122:6)! Not many people I know of pray for the peace of Jerusalem, but peace is coming. Not today or maybe even tomorrow, but peace is coming for Jerusalem, but it will take the King of Glory to bring it, and that’s Jesus Christ Who will rule in Jerusalem and bring a lasting peace, without end.
Surrounding Jerusalem
The Lord is a shield to His people, but also to Jerusalem, the City of God, but we too are His own chosen possession. The psalmist wrote, “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore” (Psalm 152:2). That surrounding begins at the time of the believer’s conversion (Romans 8:37-39; John 10:28-29), and that protective surrounding will have no end.
In the Midst of Jerusalem
Zechariah the Prophet wrote, “Thus says the Lord: I have returned to Zion and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the Lord of hosts, the holy mountain” (Zechariah 8:3). Not only will God be in the midst of Jerusalem when the New Jerusalem descends out of heaven, He will be in the midst of His people too…and we shall see God for the very first time (Revelation 21:3, 22:4).
