No Doubt

Almost everyone I know has had their time of doubt…doubting God because of the way life had turned out, but we can ask God for help.  James wrote, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” (James 1:5).  Why wouldn’t any good human father give his child something they knew would help them?  No less, God, Who has no evil, knows how to give to us that which is always good and always for our good, unlike our human fathers.  Ask God to remove your doubts and He will answer.

Have Faith

“And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen” (Matthew 21:21).  It’s not having faith in our faith that sustains us, but the Object of our Faith, Jesus Christ.  That’s reason enough to have strong faith.

Trust in God

I wouldn’t trust the best 15 minutes of my plans against the plans of the Lord.  I have learned, the hard way, to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5).  You’ll have better luck nailing Jell-O to the wall than trusting my own understanding, but trusting in the Lord is something you can lean on and not fall.

Mercy for Doubters

We should never look down on others who are living in doubt.  Maybe they doubt God’s love for them, or even His existence, but we’re told to “have mercy on those who doubt” (Jude 1:22).  I would say, “Whoever’s had no doubt in their lives, cast the first stone,” even I’d have to drop the stone.  Pray for those who doubt God right now.  Ask God to send them comfort and assurance through you or through other’s, or through His Word.

Help my Unbelief!

After a man came up to Jesus, asking for help for his demon possessed son, “…the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief” (Mark 9:24)!  A more honest prayer, I’ve never heard.  This man’s cry has probably been your cry at times….”Lord, help my unbelief!”  That’s biblical. Cry out to Him if you have doubts right now.  Ask for help in your time of “unbelief.”
