World’s Best 10 Bible Verses For Attorneys Or Lawyers
Attorneys or lawyers play an important role in our world, so for those who represent their clients, here are the world’s best 10 Bible verses for attorneys or lawyers.
5 Stories From The Bible For Attorneys Or Lawyers to Consider
Here are 5 stories from the Bible that attorneys or lawyers should read and consider.
A False Witness
If you lie in a court of law after having been placed under oath, you can be fined or jailed for perjury. Its one thing to lie to your friend, but it’s a very serious crime to lie while being a witness in court, therefore, we can understand how “A truthful witness saves lives, but one who breathes out lies is deceitful” (Proverbs 14:25).
Open Your Mouth
When we see a great injustice done, our natural response is to speak out and stand up against it, and this is just what an attorney or lawyer should do. If you’re an attorney, you should know that you’re hired to “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute:” (Prov 31:8). Again, the Lord commands you to “Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and need” (Prov 31:9). If we fail to speak up at all, who will speak up for us when we need them?
The Unrighteous Judge
A widow, likely poor, came to a judge day after day, but he refused to hear her case (Luke 18:4), but since she persisted he said, “I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming” (Luke 18:5). Even though this was an unrighteous judge (Luke 18:6), persistence paid off for her, so we can learn from this widow to not give up if we’re praying for something over and over again.
God Judges
There is one thing you can say about this world today; whatever is esteemed to be good, is looked at it as evil (i.e., Christianity), but if it’s deemed evil, the world almost embraces it as good. Whoever calls evil good is an abomination to God. The word, abomination is one of the strongest words of condemnation there is in Scripture. It means “disgusting, loathsome,” or “vile,” so in the context of that, God warns, “He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord” (Proverbs 17:15).
The Spirit of the Law
There is the letter of the Law and then there is the Spirit of the Law. Usually, these two run together, but if you saw someone drowning in a pond but the sign said, “No Swimming,” wouldn’t you disregard that law for the purpose of saving a human life? Sure you would. The Apostle Paul said that “the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Galatians 5:14). Of course, if man’s law tells us to break God’s law, we obey God’s Law over that of man (Acts 5:29).
